YOUR 2026 DUES ARE NOT PAST DUE

Your volunteer HOA Board has been managing a significant change in our Treasurer position since the dues statements were mailed in 2025. The original Treasurer resigned due to increasing job requirements in his nationwide company. A new resident who has HOA Treasurer experience was brought on board to assist in handling the Treasurer duties. Then he was offered a job as Chief Information Officer in a medical clinic chain that resides in another state. After seeing that the demands of his new job negatively impacted on his Treasurer duties he also decided to resign for the good of the HOA’s service to our residents.

Following an extensive search we were able to recruit another resident with banking experience to take on the Treasurer position. Our new Treasurer has devoted many hours to getting on board with their duties and has had to work through a great deal of “loose ends” in order to move forward in the position in order to serve the neighborhood.

The end result is that the normal dues statements usually are mailed in the first quarter of the year, but this year they were mailed at the end of the third quarter. Our correspondence to you indicated the dues were “past due” when in fact you had yet to receive a dues statement. That was an oversight on our part due to the programming in our computer recognizing that dues had not been paid earlier in the year. Many residents do pay their dues automatically in the first quarter of the year with or without receiving a dues statement. We appreciate those residents for their timeliness each year.

The second item needing clarification is the changing amount of the dues. It was raised and recommended from the floor by multiple members who attended our Annual Meeting on April 18 who recognized that your volunteer HOA Board has been struggling to achieve all the accomplishments listed in the mailer you recently received in spite of the rising prices we have to pay for all the necessities we need and use each year to provide parades, egg hunts, lighting contests, interacting with the County officials, dealing with realtors, mortgage companies as

well as rental companies who have homes in the neighborhood and providing a Neighborhood Watch Program that is recognized as very effective by the Sheriff’s Office. Several hundred hours of FREE labor are provided each year by the board members to make it all work.

The minutes of the Annual Meeting were confirmed by the Board Meeting on April 22. We also decided to HONOR all payments of the previous year’s dues of $35 for those people who automatically paid their dues prior to the vote to raise the dues to $50 as well as for those who had paid for two year’s dues the previous year. Our goal is not to ding anyone regarding their dues payment during the transition period until we properly mailed out the new dues statements this week.

By the way, your Board members do not get any pay in any way from your dues (we are all volunteers). We all volunteer our time to make Buckhorn a safe and enjoyable home for all residents’ families and each owner. We give our personal time and our hearts to make Buckhorn the best that we can achieve.

Do The HOA Programs Make A Difference? Two years ago one of our Board volunteers was at Publix buying ice and refreshments for our Buckhorn Haunted Egg Hunt & Costume Contest at Buckhorn Park. The Cashier asked what we were buying all of this for, and she was told it for this Buckhorn event. She started crying! She said some of the best memories of her childhood were made by attending our family and kid events.

Your Board members pay their dues just like you and are NOT eligible to win any of Yard Of The Quarter or

decorating contests that award cash prizes to the winners.

All we ask is that you support and respect the work we do for you and Buckhorn and that you pay your dues to assist us in keeping Buckhorn a great place to live, work and play.

We always need contributions of your time, your talent and your resources to achieve the programs and goals that make Buckhorn the SUPER neighborhood that it is. We even have some residents who grew up here, have gotten married and moved back into Buckhorn because it is the kind of neighborhood they love and feel comfortable in for themselves and their kids. That says a great deal of positiveness for Buckhorn. If it wasn’t this GREAT of a neighborhood you would not want to live here! Let’s pull to together to make it happen for Buckhorn.

Respectfully,

Your Buckhorn HOA Board of Directors
